If you have already read it, thank you for your support and do read on to find out more about “4 Apps that Every Foodie Singaporeans Must Have When Eating Outside to Save Money”.
We all know how much Singaporeans love their food. Roti Prata, Hokkien Mee, Bak Chor Mee, Mala Steamboat, Sushi, and the list goes on and on. For most people, eating happens 3 times a day. For some, it could be 4 or even 5 times a day.
When we are happy, we eat. When we are sad, we eat. When we are hungry, we eat. When we are not hungry, we also eat. Regardless of the situation that we are in, we have no choice but to eat. Otherwise, we will die of hunger, literally.

With eating being a necessity in our life, it is imperative that every dollar that we spend on food the value is maximized. This means that two people can be eating the same food but one of them is paying less compared to the other person. I don’t know about you but I will definitely not mind paying less for the same food.
Looking at my own personal spending patterns on food in September and October 2019, I spent on average $589 a month which is approximately $19.63 per day. Would say it is probably on average compared to others.
In order to eat the same food as others but at a lower cost, I have 4 foodie apps that I use when eating outside which helps me to save some money. If you enjoy paying full price for food, probably the following apps that I am gonna introduce may not be of value to you. But if you are like me who wants to enjoy good food but at cheaper prices, read on to find out what are the 4 foodie apps that can help you to save money when eating outside.

1. Quandoo (Restaurant Reservation)
When eating outside, the one thing that I hate the most is having to queue up to get a seat. Imagine you are super hungry during dinner time and when you reached the restaurant, there is a long queue of people ahead waiting to get seats just like you too.

In order to avoid wasting time queueing, I use the Quandoo app to make seat reservations at restaurants. Once the booking is confirmed by the restaurant, simply head to the restaurant at the appointment time and head straight to your seats and start eating, no time wasted in queues.
You can not only do seat reservations on the Quandoo app but you also get rewarded with real cash as well for using it. Below is how the points mechanic works.
How to Earn Loyalty Points
- Create an account for 400 points
- Make a reservation via our website or app for 100 points
- Write a review for 25 points
- Refer a friend for 500 points
Cash that you can cashout into your bank account with the Loyalty Points
- 1,000 = SGD 15.00
- 5,000 = SGD 75.00
- 10,000 = SGD 150.00
All you need to do is simply create your account at Quandoo, make 6 reservations and you can cashout $15 into your bank account, literally paying you to eat!

I only came to know about this recently but if you mention the app “Klook” to me in the past, I will probably tell you that it is only for travel and wifi egg/sim card. However, that was in the past. The Klook app now has evolved to include so many things that you can book online.
- Train Tickets
- Tours and sightseeing
- Transport and Travel Services
- Attractions and Shows
- Wifi and Sim card
- Food
With the Klook app, you will be able to buy food vouchers at discounted prices. And on top of that, you get to earn Klook credits that can be used to offset future purchases. Below is how the mechanics work.
How to earn and utilize Klook credits.
- Make a purchase on Klook
- You will receive 5-10% of the activity price in Klook credits (10 credits = 0.17 Sing Dollar)
- Redeem the Klook credits to pay less for your next purchase on Klook.
Let’s say you purchase an item that is $50, you receive a 10% rewards in Klook credits which is 294 credits. Then when you buy the same item that is $50, you only need to pay $45 instead, literally savings on top of savings!

ShopBack has always been known to allow online shoppers to earn cashback when they shop online from websites such as Shopee, Agoda, Asos, and Shopee. It is literally getting free money from ShopBack just for spending through its platform. You can get as high as 20% cashback from your purchase through ShopBack.
Like most Singaporeans, free stuff is never enough which is why ShopBack came up with ShopBack Go that allows you to earn cashback from offline shops as well. Now you can earn cashback from restaurants and cafes such as Beauty in The Pot, Texas Chicken, SaladStop!, Harry’s, and the rest you can find out yourself by downloading the app here.
The best feature of ShopBack Go which probably will save you lots of money is their 1 For 1 voucher. As the name suggests, you simply get to enjoy 2 dishes for the price of 1! And the best part of it is unlike The Entertainer app, there is no cost to sign up to use it!
Imagine you are the kind that often helps your colleagues to buy food, you can literally get your meal for free by using the ShopBack Go 1 for 1 voucher. Your colleague will be paying for the meal while you get to eat for free. Of course, if they know about ShopBack Go too, then you both will probably have to split the cost.

Burpple started as a food review sharing platform, allowing people to share photos and reviews of food, desserts, and drinks around Singapore. To provide even more benefits to users, they came up with Burpple Beyond which is 1-for-1 dining membership in Singapore.
As the name suggests, Burpple Beyond goes beyond by allowing users to enjoy 1 for 1 meal which is literally paying 2 dishes for the price of 1. Having used the app, it is literally an awesome feeling when the restaurant that you are heading to is listed on Burpple Beyond, feels like you hit the jackpot!

To use the Burpple app for 1-for-1 meals, simply click on the “Beyond” tab on the bottom and you will see the lists of restaurants that offer 1 for 1 meal. Remember to inform the waiter/cashiers beforehand that you are utilizing Burpple Beyond.
To date, I have saved up to $288 using Burpple Beyond. Imagine without Burpple Beyond, my expenses would have been a lot higher for food. Sometimes it does pay to pay in order to save.
