If you ever been to a shopping mall in Singapore, most likely it is one of the shopping malls owned by CapitaLand. Did you know that they own more than 18 shopping malls all over Singapore? Some of the shopping malls under CapitaLand that you might be familiar with include Bugis Junction, ION Orchard, JCube, Plaza Singapura and Raffles City Shopping Centre. Personally, I have been to every single shopping malls under CapitaLand, all 18 of them!
However, due to the onslaught of e-commerce and also competition from other shopping malls, CapitaLand has come up with its own loyalty program called "CapitaStar" to keep consumers coming back to spend at its malls. CapitaStar is the "Multi-store, Multi-mall Cardless Rewards Programme by CapitaLand" as stated by them. Basically what it means is that you get rewarded with STAR$® points by shopping in any stores in any shopping malls owned by CapitaLand. To bargain-hunting consumers like me, if I am gonna be spending money, might as well get back something in return. The reward that one will receive is called STAR$® points that can be redeemed for vouchers or products or discounts.
How it works
To get started, you will first need to register for a CapitaStar account either on their website "https://www.capitastar.com/", on their mobile app or at the Self-Service Kiosks located within their malls. You can click on the image below to go to download the CapitaStar app.
After you have registered an account with CapitaStar, all you have to do is simply upload any receipts from any stores within their 16 participating CapitaLand Malls to earn CapitaStar Points. To upload the receipts, it can either be done on the app, the CapitaStar website or the Self-Service Kiosks.

Things to take note regarding the receipts that you upload
- Minimum amount spending on the receipt is $20
- You have until the end of next day to scan the receipts printed today
- The receipts must belong to a store under the participating malls of CapitaStar Program
- You cannot scan more than 10 receipts printed on the same day of the same store
- STAR$® are awarded based on the nett purchase value after deduction of discounts at all participating retailers
- You can accumulate up to a maximum of 5,000 STAR$® a day.
- The receipts uploaded must be clear otherwise it might be rejected
- Every $1 spent is 5 STAR$® Points
- Some stores give different STAR$® Points rate
Redemption of STAR$® Points
With the STAR$® Points earned, there are two ways for you to redeem it. You can either go to the customer service counter to redeem the STAR$® Points for CapitaVouchers. Minimum 5000 STAR$® is required to redeem a $5 CapitaVoucher and it is given in denomination of $5. What Benefits am I getting
If one were to simply redeem the STAR$® Points for CapitaVoucher, the "cashback" rate that you are getting is approximately 0.50% rebate. That is actually quite low but considering that if one were to shop in CapitaLand shopping malls often, might as well join the CapitaStar program since it is free money. So if you were to spend $1000, you will be getting 5000 STAR$® Points = $5 CapitaVoucher which is equivalent to 0.50% cashback.
Personally, I have earned more than 278,000 STAR$® Points and redeemed 270,000 STAR$® Points to date. The process for earning points via the mobile app is quite seamless and so far I have no complaints about it. As for redemption of STAR$® Point, it is also quite easy. I have done both redemptions at the customer service counter and on the mobile app as well. The experience has been great too! Below is a screenshot of my personal CapitaStar Profile.
